Our school district could use your help. We’d love to have you become a substitute for JCSD 509J.
A current, valid Oregon teaching license is required to substitute as a teacher. There is an opportunity to receive a Restricted Substitute Teaching License. A restricted substitute teaching license is issued to qualified individuals who hold a bachelor’s degree, but have not completed a teacher preparation program. This license allows a qualified individual to substitute teach in one of our classrooms to fill in for a teacher who is unavailable.
If you do not have a teaching license, our district will write a sponsorship letter for you to TSPC. If approved for sponsorship, you will then receive additional information and instructions to proceed with the TSPC Restricted Substitute License.
If you do not have a teaching license or degree, we have opportunities for you to sub in our school district. We are always looking for substitutes in the following areas:
- Nutrition Services
- Custodial
- Transportation
- Educational Assistants
These jobs do not require a college degree.
Substitute Pay Rate
Licensed:
$211.92 for 8 hour day
$105.96 for 4 hour day
Substitute teachers are paid for a full day when they work for more than half a day (More than 4 hours).
If a substitute teacher works less than a half a day (less than 4 hours), they will be paid for a half a day at $105.96.
Classified:
Classified substitutes are paid by the hour and can earn up to $23.58 per hour depending on the position.
How to Apply
All applications for a substitute position must be submitted to PowerSchool SchoolSpring.
Steps
1. In order to find open positions, click on the “Click to Apply for A Sub Position Today!” button above to view all positions.
2. Search “Substitute” in the search bar near the top of the screen on the left hand side.
Mobile: If applying on a mobile device, the search bar is at the top of the screen. Look for ‘Search Jobs.’
3. Look at the positions and click on the one you wish to apply for. For example, if you are applying for a substitute teacher position, click on “Substitute Licensed Teachers.” If you are applying for a substitute educational assistant position, then click on “Substitute Educational Assistants.”
4. Click on the blue “Apply for this job!” button.
5. You will be redirected to a new screen where you will be prompted to create an account. Click on the ‘Sign Up’ link undernearth the blue ‘Continue’ button to create an account.
6. Once you create your account, you can apply for the position. You’ll need to fill out your personal information, qualifications, education, experience, etc. for the application.
