The school district could use your help. We’d love to have you become a substitute for us. If you are interested in helping out or know of someone who might be, we’d love to hear from you. There is an opportunity to receive a Restricted Substitute Teaching License.
A restricted substitute teaching license is issued to qualified individuals who hold a bachelor’s degree, but have not completed a teacher preparation program. This license allows a qualified individual to substitute teach in one of our classrooms to fill in for a teacher who is unavailable.
We will outline the steps people will need to follow in order to become a substitute teacher with 509J.
- Apply for the position! Anyone can apply to be a sub on our website at https://bit.ly/509JEmployment
- Schedule an interview if our HR team has determined you would be a good applicant.
- Following the interview, if offered a position, you’ll have to submit an application and fee through elicensing on TSPC’s website for the license.
- Fingerprinting: Once you apply for the license, TSPC will send an email with codes and instructions. You must contact the nearest Fieldprint office for an appointment. You must also pass a background check.
- Verify you have a bachelor’s degree or higher. You can do this by asking the college or university to send your transcripts directly to TSPC at transcripts@oregon.gov. Or have them mailed to 250 Division St NE, Salem, OR 97301. NOTE: Transcripts uploaded by the applicant or not received in a sealed university envelope cannot be accepted as official.
- Sponsorship: 509J will submit a letter to TSPC requesting the license.

El distrito escolar podría usar su ayuda. Nos encantaría que te convirtieras en un sustituto de nosotros. Si está interesado en ayudar o conoce a alguien que podría serlo, nos encantaría saber de usted. Existe la oportunidad de recibir una Licencia de Enseñanza Sustituta Restringida.
Se emite una licencia de enseñanza sustituta restringida a personas calificadas que tienen una licenciatura, pero que no han completado un programa de preparación para maestros. Esta licencia permite a una persona calificada sustituir la enseñanza en una de nuestras aulas para reemplazar a un maestro que no está disponible.
