Announcing Madras High School’s October Athletes of the Month!

We are thrilled to announce our October Madras High Athletes of the Month! These exceptional athletes from cross country, boys and girls soccer, football, volleyball, and cheerleading have shown outstanding dedication and sportsmanship on and off the field.

Each coach took the time to write down summaries on why these individuals truly stand out. Let’s give a roaring cheer for these October stars!

Football: Matthew Suppah-Scott has become a wonderful student of the game! A wonderful leader by example. Matthew leads the team in Tackles for loss, Sacks and QB hurries and hits. He is second on the team in total tackles. His 6 sacks is second in the state. He has been a dependable receiver and blocker on offense! His character is second to none.

– Head Coach Neil Elshire

Cross Country: This student athlete never misses a practice, always has the determination to train her way to improvement, she does not have, or make excuses. She is enthusiastic about competing at a high level. Her character in cross country displays an excellence to rise to the top. This is also seen in her academic pursuits.

Zoe is a well rounded individual who will succeed at anything she puts her sights on. Zoe Kollen is a rare human these days, and deserves her success she lives in. Humble, and determined, with endless grit to exceed. Those are the attributes that best describes her. This student athlete is amazing to have in a program. She only makes it better.

– Head Coach Bradly Padgett

Girls Soccer: Addy has a motor on the field that doesn’t quit. She is constantly flying around at full speed and barely tires. She also has great sportsmanship and always is going to check on injured girls from the other team. She earned us a penalty kick and scored off of it to get the draw in our final game of the season and her final game as a Madras High School soccer player.

– Head Coach Shawn Darrow

Boys Soccer: Juan Pablo Olivera is a Beast not only in his academics but also on the field. He is one of the best center backs in the league right now, and has also saved 4 goals, stepping in the goal for our keeper when he needs to come out.  He has great field vision and is definitely a leader on and off the field. Beat up or sore from the previous game, he never misses a practice.

– Head Coach Scott Jividen

Volleyball: Brooklin is one of the hardest working players in the gym and she shows up to improve her skills and mental game every single day. She doesn’t hesitate to ask questions to understand the game better and her hard work has paid off earning her spot to play all 6 rotations.

On the season she has had 13 aces on 94 serves, an 87.6% service percentage, 98 assists, and 54 digs. She has improved her serve receive, setting and hitting skills tremendously this season which makes her someone who can play just about any position. She is someone every coach would want on their team. She is leader on and off the court and our program is lucky to have her!

– Head Coach Taytum Stevens

Cheerleading: Bella is one of our best tumblers and always is the first to lend a hand to her teammates. She is a quick learner and gives her best to our team. Although she is a senior, we are truly blessed her last year is being spent with us.
