Introducing Madras High School’s January Athletes of the Month!

We are thrilled to highlight our next round of athletes who have earned MHS Athlete of the Month! These exceptional athletes from Boys & Girls Basketball, Boys & Girls Wrestling, Swimming, and Cheerleading have shown outstanding dedication and sportsmanship on and off the court, mat, and in and out of the pool.

Each coach took the time to write down summaries on why these individuals truly stand out. Let’s give a roaring cheer for these January stars!

Girls Basketball: TaLisa has an amazing work ethic and attitude. She puts in extra time and has been 100% committed to improving her game. Our program’s future is very bright because of her leadership and talents.

– Head Coach Heath Alexander

Boys Basketball: Isaiah averaged 7.4 PPG during the month of January. He has really played his best basketball in the last month and is starting to score double figures pretty regularly. He also did a good job in the classroom with a 3.40 GPA last semester.

– Head Coach Nick Brown

Girls Wrestling: Nichole is a very dedicated individual. She is persistent in her approach to getting as best she can in the sport of wrestling. It is fun to watch her intensity in matches and her dominating personality bring many victories for her on the mat. She has expressed great interest in pursuing wrestling at the college level.

I believe she will do great things at the next level. I am hopeful and expectant to see her push through to the state tournament this year. The potential to medal is there. I am looking forward to the end of the season outcome for her.

– Head Coach Brad Padgett

Boys Wrestling: Tryg Zemke has been working hard this season and has really improved. He was tournament Champion at the High Desert Classic and took 5th place at the highly competitive Hood River Memorial Tournament. Tryg has also picked up some exciting dual meet wins. His willingness to ask questions and seek improvement demonstrates his commitment to the sport. He is a supportive and dependable teammate, making him a valuable asset to this team. We are very excited about his future as a White Buffalo wrestler.

Swimming: Wyatt is an extremely hard worker and approaches every practice as an opportunity to get faster and build endurance. He recently set personal best times in the 100 backstroke and 500 Freestyle finishing 5th overall in the 500 and the top 4a finisher. He brings a positive attitude every day and is a great teammate.

– Head Coach Joannah Pendell

Cheerleading: Tylie is a hard worker and is always striving to be her best. She is never shy to ask for extra help. She has shown true commitment through her surgery and healing from an injury. Tylie is always supportive of her teammates and willing to jump in wherever she is needed. We cant wait to see what all she accomplishes this next year.
