For the month of September, JCSD 509J is spotlighting Kayla Kneeland who is the Special Education Teacher for 3rd-5th grade at Warm Springs K8 Academy for the work she does every day in her role.
She started working for the district in the 2014-15 school year as an educational assistant in the Life Skills classroom. In 2019, she earned her teaching credentials through George Fox University and started teaching 5th grade before earning her SPED endorsement and teaching Special Education.
Kayla wanted to work for JCSD 509J because she is a lifelong learner who wanted to pass that passion onto students. Once she started as an EA at WSK8, she saw the need for special education teachers in our community and decided to pursue becoming a special education teacher as a goal.
“My favorite part about being a teacher is along those lines of watching students grow and being able to be a part of their learning process. Being a hand in shaping the future leaders of the world is such a special thing.”
