Introducing Madras High School’s December Athletes of the Month!
We are thrilled to kick off the 24-25 winter sports season by highlighting our December MHS Athletes of the Month! These exceptional athletes from boys and girls basketball, boys and girls wrestling, swimming, and cheerleading have shown outstanding dedication and sportsmanship on and off the court and mat, and in the pool.
Each coach took the time to write down summaries on why these individuals truly stand out. Let’s give a roaring cheer for these December stars!
Girls Basketball: Marlee has swiftly made her mark at the varsity level, showcasing her exceptional talent and determination. Currently ranking among the top two in both scoring and rebounding, she has become a vital asset to the team. Her ability to lead in deflections highlights her defensive prowess, demonstrating her quick instincts and relentless effort on the court.
Marlee’s contributions go beyond just statistics; she has been instrumental in setting the tone for our defensive pressure, inspiring her teammates to elevate their performance and work cohesively as a unit. Her blend of skill and leadership promises a bright future for both her and the team.
– Head Coach Heath Alexander
Boys Basketball: Matthew is our leading scorer and rebounder so far this year at 13.6 PPG and 9.7 RPG. He is our best leader on and off the floor and always sets a great example for the rest of the team. He is doing a great job in the classroom as well with a current GPA of 3.86 this semester.
– Head Coach Nick Brown
Girls Wrestling: Hannah is an exceptional wrestler. Picking this sport up in her high school career she has shown tremendous talent. I enjoy watching her overcome the obtacles that life presents her and still see her make her desire to be a great wrestler come to life. She is making the most of her life the best way she can. She has a bright future ahead, because of the work ethic she is willing to put forth. I hope to see and I will bet on seeing a great season outcome in wrestling at either districts or state. She is a great example of being able to become whatever you decide you want to be!
– Head Coach Bradley Padgett
Boys Wrestling: Daniel Jackson is a relentless hard worker who never backs down from a challenge. Watching him compete is always exciting because he never gives up. His competitiveness and work ethic elevates the team as a whole. Daniel was 3rd at the Sister’s Invitational and 1st place at the White Buffalo Invite. Daniel is on a mission this season and we are excited for the rest of the season.
– Head Coach Travis Ralls
Swimming: Cameron is not only an amazing swimmer, but also a fantastic teammate and leader. He always makes sure everyone feels included and supported, creating a positive vibe for the whole team. On top of that, he’s crushing the 50 free with an insane 24-second time. Truly a standout in every way!
– Head Coach Joannah Pendell
Cheerleading: Annaliese came to us for comp/basketball sideline season and has been a big asset to our team. She is always willing to try anything we throw at her and loves getting our crowd pumped up.
