We are thrilled to introduce Taytum Stevens as the next head volleyball coach at Madras High School. She started playing volleyball all the way back in second grade! She competed in travel volleyball and played in high school. She brings eight years of coaching experience. She has been the coach for the 8th grade team at JCMS in our district for the past few seasons.
“I’ve always loved coaching,” she said. “I’ve always thought it’s been really fun and just seeing the girls grow is really fun for me.”
One of the things she is excited about with her new role is the competitive environment of coaching at the high school varsity level. Stevens is ready to fill the Buffalo Dome and feel the energy coming from the crowd.
“I think this program has a lot of potential and I’m so excited to make those steps towards being super competitive against other teams in our league,” she said.
Stevens believes commitment from everyone in the program is paramount to having a successful and fulfilling season.
“It’s hard work to build a program but if everyone’s committed then we’re gonna be on a smooth ride here,” she said. We also need to be excited to be there and be ready for just about anything.”
In addition to her coaching responsibilities, Stevens is also a sixth grade social studies teacher and the leadership teacher at JCMS. In her free time, she loves to get outside with her friends and do outdoor activities like hiking or paddle boarding.
