For the month of September for the 23-24 school year, JCSD 509J is spotlighting Jackie Hawkins who is the Librarian and teaches art classes at Metolius Elementary for the work she does every day in her role.
She started working for the district 23 years ago and has been with Metolius Elementary the entire time! Her first job was an educational assistant at the school. Jackie started working for the school district because she wanted a career change from being self-employed and she knew she wanted to be around kids.
She does so much for Metolius Elementary from making sure the library is running smoothly, helping teachers find resources and materials, bus and recess duty, and teaching art classes to all the students!
“My biggest success would be when the kid’s faces light up when they find that perfect book and they read it and they get so excited about it. Then when they see their artwork on the walls, they’re very proud.”
