ANNOUNCEMENTS:

  1. If you are looking for ways to complete your 8 hours of volunteer work for graduation, look no further! The MHS daycare is in need of some help during staff work days! The next staff work days are Friday, January 26th and Monday, January 29th. All students, 9th-12th grade, are eligible as long as you have a clean behavior record. If you can commit to either of those days, please see Mr. Tyler to sign up!
  1. Not doing a Winter sport and interested in coming out for Track? Mr. Jensen is holding pre-season practices every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 3:30 to 4:30. Meet outside the main gym.
  1. MHS students are you looking for an elective that offers fun field trips, nice uniforms, opportunities to compete and win and become a member of a growing team?  If so, JROTC may be for you.  JROTC is an Army based leadership program but is NOT a gateway into military service nor is it a recruitment tool.  Interested? Have questions? Come to room #44, ask any member of JROTC or simply enroll with your counselor.
  1. Senior Ads-Are interested in having your parent submit a Senior Ad in the 2018 yearbook? It is a great way to feature baby pics, current pics, family pics, and/or additional senior pics. If you are interested, see Ms PH for the order form. All ad materials are due no later than Wed, Jan 31st. Space is limited and is first come first serve.
  1. All Students:  Please look at your Semester 2 schedule in the very near future.  (If you need help with your PowerSchool account, stop by Ms. Piercy's desk in Student Services.)  If you have a concern, question, or want to request a change, the way to see your counselor is during your lunch between now and the end of the lunch on Monday, January 22.  Waiting until the final day, January 22, is not a good idea and may mean you won't get in to see your counselor.  Take care of business!!
  1. ATTENTION MHS Be sure to preorder your 2018 yearbook by Wed Feb 28th for only $50. Prices will increase to $55 March 1st. Books are limited. Once we sell out we won't order more. See Misty at the bookkeeper’s window to reserve your book today!
  1. SENIORS:  We are into the season where you will be requesting that MHS staff fill out reference forms and/or write letters of recommendation for post-secondary institution applications, for scholarships, and for internships or jobs on your behalf.  It takes time for these tasks to be completed; you should plan to give 2-4 weeks of lead time to your reference person.  It is important to make this request in person even if an email is coming from the institution.  Be sure to ask the person what they need to complete your recommendation, provide a resume or list of activities if that will be needed, let him/her know how to turn in the form or letter as well as informing him/her of the deadline.  Often, it is helpful to return to the person a few days before the due date to check in, remind him/her about your deadline.  After the process is complete, a simple in-person thank you is appreciated.  The Future Center has Recommendation Request forms to assist you.  Good luck, Seniors, in your planning this year.  As an MHS staff, we are here to help you as you make your plans.  We are rooting for you!
  1. University of Oregon College Application!  Students who have not yet submitted an application have until January 15, and all materials (high school transcript, ACT/SAT scores, & payment/fee waiver) must be sent by February 15.
